In 1984, Mike Lapre established Lapre Insurance & Surety, this division focused on heavy Surety needs of the contracting industry, and the small license & permits needs of all other types of business owners.

The Surety and other programs were expanded to a national level in 1996, at which time Mike Lapre became licensed in all 50 states. This surety agency is currently one of the largest surety agencies in the United States.

In January of 2006, Mike Lapre joined forces with Terrence M Scali, a well know and highly respected member of the insurance industry to form Lapre Scali & Company Insurance Services, LLC. In July of 2011, Lapre Scali & Company was acquired by NFP, becoming NFP Property & Casualty Services, Inc (NFP P&C).
